Company Journal 03:
Milestones and mistletoe

Written By Wez - 04/11/2026

Welcome to the third Company Journal. This month: people hitting milestones, a visit we were glad to host, our new neighbours, and where to find us in the run-up to Christmas.

Find us at Gloucester Quays Christmas Market

We have a stall at the Gloucester Quays Christmas Market on the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, and we will be there both days.

On the stall you will find handcrafted Christmas wreaths, made from natural materials we have upcycled from our day-to-day work, and bunches of mistletoe in a range of sizes. Buy anything from the stall over the weekend and you will get a 10% off coupon to use at Silver Tree Nurseries.

Come and say hello.

Milestones

Ben and Tom have completed the Silver Tree management training programme, a 12-month course that both of them have worked through alongside running their teams. Congratulations to both.
Ethan has passed his probation and is now a full member of the Landscaping team.
Wez, who looks after our marketing and writes this journal, has passed his six-month probation and is now full time.

New faces

Barry has joined our Grounds Maintenance team. Welcome, Barry.
We are still growing, and our current vacancies are on the recruitment page.

A visit from Prosperity Care

Prosperity Care got in touch to ask whether someone they support, who has a real fascination with tree surgery, could come and see what we do. We were happy to say yes.
On Monday 5 October, our Tree Surgery Manager Neil welcomed them and their care team to the yard, showed them round and talked through our equipment and what each machine does. Neil then took them to a job nearby where the team were working with the tractor and Heizohack, so they could see the chipper in action, and even sit in the tractor.
Thank you to Prosperity Care for getting in touch. It was a pleasure to show them round.

Our new neighbours, Deer Park Archers

We have kept building our relationship with our new neighbours at Deer Park Archers. They have given us a tour of their facilities and access to their defibrillator, and we are working together to improve the area around both sites, finding ways to help each other with storage, parking and shared facilities.
We have even been offered the chance to try archery ourselves. We will definitely be taking up the challenge, along with some of our clients.

Wide and far

Most of our work is close to home in Gloucestershire, but the vans have covered plenty of ground again this month. The tracker has had teams out from the East Midlands and Banbury, down through Oxfordshire to Southampton and Swanage on the Dorset coast.

Working away does have its perks. One of the crews on the south coast made time for fish and chips on the beach.

The team down near Swanage got a decent view for their trouble, too.

Whatever the weather

Wind and rain have not slowed the teams down this autumn. The landscaping team kept rebuilding a drystone wall through the wet, and the crews kept working through the recent storm, as the timelapse below shows.

Media of the Month

October’s Media of the Month goes to Ethan, for this shot of one of our zero-turn mowers on a freshly cut field under a big autumn sky.

Happy anniversary, Paul

Finally, congratulations to Paul, our founder and Managing Director, on his 10th wedding anniversary.
